Grover left at 8;30am. Went to Pont Nieppe and picked up a U.S.A. boy and a R.A.M.C. boy.

Grover went to “C” battery at about 10 am. Place was shelled, two hit about 8 or 10 yards from Grover. Grover was hit by the clods of earth, expecting to be wounded immediately. Went to “B” battery and it was also shelled. Grover was chases all over the place, falling when he heard shells coming and running between times.

Grover went to batteries, shelled on the way but was not hit. They did a raid on their front. About 300 guns took part on 500 yds. Front. Went over and destroyed Huns, took 36 prisoners, 4 machine guns and blew up dugouts.

Grover had been away from home for a whole year. Wishing he was in old Memphis but not leave it. An Old Hund dropped a shell about 50 yards away.
