The Townshend Act put taxes on imported goods such as glass, paint, and tea. Colonists though saw the Acts as an abuse of power so it revived colonial protests, boycotts, and violence.

The Nonimportation Agreement was a boycott restricting any goods imported to Boston. It was an attempt to force British recognition of political rights through economic pressure. All in all, it threatened British merchants and manufacturers.

The Boston Massacre was when seven British soldiers fired into a crowd because of colonists throwing rocks and snowballs. The soldiers killed 5 people in the crowd.

The British passed a law that allowed the British East India Company to sell tea directly to colonists. Doing this made tea cheaper than smuggled tea even though it still had a tax on it. Colonists thought they were being tricked so they boarded three ships and dumped the tea into the harbor. All of this made Britain upset.

The Intolerable Acts were repercussions for the Boston Tea Party. It was a series of four laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colony in Massachusetts Bay.
