    Pearl Harbor AttackThe U.S. noticed that Japan was modernizing themselves. They were afraid that they would invade the Philippines, which was a U.S. territory. The U.S. sent Douglas Macarthur and his men to the Philippines to defend it. Meanwhile, the U.S. were trying to make a plan to stop Japan. They realized that they were giving Japan oil. So, Franklin D. Roosevelt cut all the oil supplies from Japan. Japan was furrious. They wanted revenge. They decided to round up their Air Force and bomb Pearl Harbor.

    After the Pearl Harbor attack, The U.S. were able to defeat Japan because of the United States code breaking skills. Japan wanted to destroy more U.S. fleets. America intercepted messages from Japan and found out that Japan was planning on to arrange their carriers in position for attack. So, America went ahead and attacked the Japanese.

    General Eisenhower was appointed the leader of Operation Overlord, also known as D-Day. He was planning this invasion for months. Eventually, he was ready. But, there were weather delays. The weather was terrible, so he had to wait one more day. Then on June 6th, the U.S. troops went to Normandy, France and invaded the awaiting German soldiers.

    President wanted the Japenese to surrender. But, the Japenese wouldn't surrender. So, president Truman ordered to drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Japanese still wouldn't let up. So, Truman did it again.
