This was a period in which people began to focus more on humanism rather than religious tradtions and ratictes. Art and music were focused on, as well as advancing technology. The printing press was major invention, and made books and reading accessible to everyone, poor and rich.

The Protestant Reformation was a protest to reform the Catholic Church. Martin Luther was a major figure during this and protested against many things like the sale of indulgences (you can buy your way into Heaven), monotonous ceremonies, and lack of spiritual desire from the Pope.
