    In 2006 there was a surge in traction for laws that were of the stand your ground type. Many states passed laws that were against the use of deadly force which in turn sparked many debates.

    In 2007 there was a rising poverty rate and research from then showed that 12.5% of Americans lived in poverty. There were millions of Americans who were "working poor" which means they were employed but still couldn't meet basic needs.

    Afghanistan and Pakistan

    In this year the Obama administration had a new strategy for the fight in Afghanistan. The US had emphasized that Afghanistan and Pakistan are interconnected and especially highlighted Taliban safe havens. This was one of the defining foreign policy moments of the decade.

    When I was 3 years my parents decided to move to North Carolina. They decided to move from Florida to North Carolina because they wanted to get away from family there and have a new start and we had some family in North Carolina.

    Obama was reelected for his second term in 2012 and made promises to continue forward to build on reforms from his first term. Some of the big things he promised includes, helping the economy since it crashed in 2008, protecting and improving the affordable care act, and end the war in Afghanistan.

    In 2011 I played my first sport ever which was Tee Ball, which lead to me playing baseball for many years to come. This was a turning point in my life that made me fall in love with sports and kept me playing them until I couldn't anymore.

    ECU joins the AAC

    In 2014 ECU joined the American Athletic Conference and left the C-USA. This move helped ECU be in a greater view for all their sports since the AAC is more competitive, had more financial opportunities, more national exposure, and can help them push towards getting into a power four conference.

    Trump is elected

    In 2016 Donald Trump ran against Hillary Clinton and beat her to become the president. Some of the things Trump promised include, building a wall on the US-Mexico border, ban and/or restrict immigration from certain countries, cut taxes for businesses, repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, and destroy ISIS.

    In 2017 they made more advancements for AI. One of these advancements were more automation so that there is less human involvement with them. Another is smarter machine learning so that they can learn better.
  • North Korea Diplomacy

    In 2018 President Trump met with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. This meeting was about trying to get North Korea to denuclearize even though there was very little evidence that that was going to happen.
  • Hurt hip playing football

    My first time playing football I ended up injuring my leg and I was advised to not play sports anymore. During our final game of the season I got rolled up with a teammate and ended up hurting my hip, but this led me to do marching band in high school.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers win superbowl

    The Tampa Bay Buccaneers become the Superbowl champions with quarterback Tom Brady winning his 7th Superbowl. They also became the first team to win the Superbowl in their own stadium since the Superbowl was in Raymond-James stadium.
  • Full scale invasion of Ukraine

    This year Russia launched a full-scale invasion into Ukraine since they had previously annexed themselves from Russia's control. This decision sparked a lot of debates and Russia faced a lot of backlash and many people and countries backed Ukraine over Russia.
  • I was drum major in high school

    My final year of my time in high school, I was chosen to be the drum major and got to lead the band that season. It was one of the best experiences I have had in my life, and it was just a great way to end out my senior year.
