    Fifth Vision by Hildegard of Bingen
    Hildegard of Bingen was born in 1098. At a young age she joined the monastery of Disibodenberg in the Rhineland. In 1147, she experience a vision that caused to leave Disibodenberg and start her own community of nuns. She composed music, letter-writer, and wrote texts on medicine and herbalism. She created this piece of art to show how she receives the vision and writes it down while someone else is illustrating the vision she saw. This piece shows a women who uses her vision to tell the world

    Herrad of Landsberg
    Herrad of Landsberg was born in 1130. She was the 12th-century Alsatian nun and abbess of Hohenburg Abbey in the Vosges Mountains. She is know as the author of the pictorial encyclopedia Hortus deliciarum. You can see in the self portrait from the Horus deliciarum, that she cares that her fellow nun have the same knowledge of teaching of the biblical, moral, and theological material as she was given. This book shows actual experience that she went thru and portraits of her covenant sisters.
