Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, on April 1564. His exact birth date is not recorded, but people mostly celebrate it on the 23rd of April. Shakespeare wrote sonnets, poems, and plays. He wrote sonnets and poems the most. Shakespeare is most famous for his plays, specifically ‘Romeo and Juliet’, as well as Hamlet. -
Shakespeare's family consisted of his mother, his father, and his seven siblings. He had three younger brothers and two younger sisters, one of whom died. His father worked as a glove maker, but he also became an important figure in Stratford by fulfilling civic positions. Due to his father's status, all of Shakespeare's siblings, including himself, could've been sent to the local grammar school. Shakespeare lived with his family until he was eighteen. -
When he turned eighteen he married Anne Hathaway, who was twenty-six at the time, and since she was pregnant their marriage was rushed. Together they had three children. Their eldest was born six months after the marriage, and later they had twins. One of the twins died when he was just eleven years old. -
Shakespeare’s career started in london. By 1592 shakespeare's reputation was made, but the years before that were a mystery, and those years are known as the lost years. During his time in london shakespeare published his first works. Two long poems. The poems were ‘Venus and Adonis’ and ‘The Rape of Lucrece’. Shakespeare was also a founding member of an acting group, The Lords Chamberlain’s men. He was their regular dramatist, writing two plays a year, for almost twenty years. -
Altogether shakespeare wrote 38 plays, 2 narrative poems, 154 sonnets, and a variety of poems. If it weren’t for shakespeare’s acting group none of the plays he wrote would have been preserved after shakespeare died. Shakespeare’s works led him to wealth. Due to the wealth he was able to purchase a new home in his hometown, stratford-upon-avon. When shakespeare’s father died he inherited the family home. Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 at the age of 52. He died in his hometown.
