On September 19th, 1911, William Golding was born in Newquay, Cornwall, England.

He grew up next to a cemetery and developed a fear of cemeterys. He grew up with his mother, father and an older brother.

His first book was a book of poetry he wrote in collage in 1934.

William Golding left the navy in World War 2 in 1945 and went back to writing novels.

In 1951 to 1952, William was writing the lord of the Flies. He sent the book to the publishers in 1953 and it was finally published in 1954 by Faber and Faber.
