Despite settlers being scared of the Natives, they continued moving, even killing 462 Native Americans. This shows their desire to continue on, not letting anyone stop them. -
Geographic Challenges
During their expansion, they faced difficulty navigating around and adapting to new farming conditions. Even with this difficulty they went to more and more land. -
Manifest Destiny
The idea that God wanted the settlers to have the land and continue expanding west. This tells them that they basically need to continue expanding. -
Treaty of Fort Laramie
They promised 8 of the Native American groups territory. They did this in order to continue expanding without having trouble with the Natives, showing their dedication to getting more land.
