    The Mexican government abolished slavery in Texas because it wanted to lesson the influence of America.
  • No immigration to America

    When the American slave owners had free slaves the forced them to sign a contract as an indentured servant which in return, the American population grew.
  • Rebellion between America and Mexico

    A rebellion broke out between America and Mexico for Texas. The mexicans won the first battle at the Alamo in San Antonio and the fortress of Goliad.
  • Americans gain Texases independece.

    The Americans launched a surprise attack on Mexico at the San Jacinto River which led to Texas gaining its idependence.

    Thousands of sttlers wanted to come to Oregon because of the lush Willamette Valley. So to get there the traveld on the Oregon Trail.

    The Mexican War

    The annexation of Texas soon led to the Mexican War, lasting 2 years. In the begining when the wanted to join the united states after gaining independence, the north didn't want them to because they did want to gain another slave state and loose the balance of 13 proslavery and 13 antislavery.

    It started when he sued for his freedom because his master brought him in to a free state. After 10 years they decided that he could not sue because hi was not a Citizen of the United States.
  • Gold discovered

    The United Staes gained California and in California gold was discovered leading to the gold rush.

    The Gold Rush

    The gold rush sent almost 200,000 people to California in hopes that they would find gold. Because of the amount of people coming to California, it apllied for statehood. There was then a comprimise where that state was atmitted as a free state and included the Fugitive Slave Law
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act brought antislavery and proslavery proponents head-to-head in a battle over the status of Kansas.
