    President James Madison declares war on Great Britain because they refused to stop seizing American Ships.
  • Battle of Queenston Heights

    This was the first major battle of the War of 1812 and the British won.
  • Battle of River Raisin

    The Americans attempted to seize Fort Detroit and invade Canada and they were surprised by the British. The Americans won the battle.
  • Siege of Fort Meigs

    The British army with help of Native Americans attempted to capture a fort against the Detroit army.
  • Battle at Sackets Harbor

    A British force was trying to capture a town but they ended up retreating because of the Americans.
  • Battle of the Thames

    William Hull defeated the British and the Indians in Ontario. This battle killed Tecumseh.

    The Americans were surprised by the British who successfully completed a night assault to capture the fort.

    The invading American army was fought in this battle by the mixed Canadian and British Army. This battles lasted 6 hours and this concluded Americans fight to gain Canada.

    This battle ended up in a British victory and it left Washington D.C. open to invasion.

    This was the peace treaty between the U.S. and Britain which ended the War of 1812. This set the boundaries between Canada and the U.S.

    This was after the Treaty of Ghent was signed and it was fought between the British and the Americans. This was a great victory for the United States.
