    In 1919 Alvin York enlisted in the US Army at the age of 30, York's decision to join the military was influenced by his sense of duty and love for his country, he felt compelled to serve after reading about the devastating impact of the World War

    In the Meuse-Argonne offensive of 1918, York demonstrated exceptional bravery and leadership in a pivotal battle, where he single-handedly captured more than 132 Germans and secured a substantial cache of supplies. This remarkable achievement earned him great acclaim and recognition, and he was later awarded the Medal of Honor for his gallantry in action.

    After the war, York continued to engage in humanitarian efforts, including advocating for those struggling to cope with the aftermath of war. He also founded a Bible college to promote his religious beliefs

    Throughout the rest of his life, York remained a prominent figure known for his bravery, humility, and religious convictions. He passed away in 1964 and was laid to rest in the Wolf River Cemetery in Pall Mall, Tennessee.
