The Labor Union strike during Grover Cleveland’s presidency which led to Labor being made a national holiday. -

Spanish- American War
The Spanish-American war was fought and won. Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines were gained by the United States from Spain. -

U.S occupied Nicaragua
The U.S occupied Nicaragua during the Banana Wars. -

The Selective Service Act

The Stock Market Crash
In 1929, the stock market crashed and lead to nine thousand bank closures. People packed outside banks with little hope of saving their money from being lost. This sparked the Great Depression and the long haul Americans would have to face in order to recover fully from its effects. (https://www.ushistory.org/us/48.asp) -

Glass-Steagal Banking Reform

Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941 was the day Japan attacked the island of Oahu, Hawaii. An unexpected bloody end to many American lives. The United States was in the midst of peace negotiations when Japan attacked. This also instigated the United States involvement in WWII.

Unlike V-J day (Victory over Japan), V-E day was a step towards the end of WWII. “The Allied forces of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union had forced the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King gave his “I Have Dream” speech
This day marks one of the most important times in history; the Civil Rights movement. On this day the words “I have a dream” we’re spoken and would ring in the hearts and minds of Americans for years to come. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King spoke out against racial inequality in front of thousands of Americans and changed the course of history with his words. “Woman’s Liberation Aims to Free Men Too” was published by the Washington Post
The Washington Post published an article which broke every social norm of the era. It addressed Woman’s rights and how they related men as well. It also addressed how woman can also be the ones to trap themselves discrimination by embracing comfort over equality.

President Ronald Reagan Assassination Attempt
On March 30th, 1981 John Hinckley openly shot at President Reagan during his first year in office. This event showed the resilience of the President and lead to much stricter crowd regulations. President Reagan was a very good humored person and said many comedic one liners during his time in the hospital.

Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
This oil spill would remain in the hearts and minds of people for many years to come. “...(It) illustrated America’s embarrassing dependency on fossil fuels and the ecological and economic havoc that resulted.” (https://www.ushistory.org/us/60e.asp) I can personally recall the oil spill as a common topic of conversation when I was in 1st and 2nd grade. The Soviet Union Collapses
“When they Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the United States was the only remaining super power...” (https://www.ushistory.org/us/60e.asp) The entire world shifted its attention towards the U.S. Countries now relied on American aid and military support. -

NAFTA
NAFTA stands for the North American Free Trade Agreement. Trade has been a major aspect of Globalization all throughout history. NAFTA broke economic walls between Mexico and Canada which allowed all three economies to become closer and connected.

President Clinton’s Impeachment
This marks the day in which President Clinton was impeached from his position as president. He was caught in various scandals and crimes which occurred throughout his presidency. The most well known scandal involved his intern Monica Lewinsky.
