The first people came to the continent we now call North America over 10,000 years ago. They came over the Bering Strait from North Siberia and settled. The first Europians dident arrived before much later. This happend first in aboute 1000 AD when the Viking visited briefly. Later Christopher Colombus expedition reached the Americans in 1492. This marked the beginning of the European colonization.

Without the help of Native Americans, the Europeans would not be able to settle all over North America. They got help from Pocahontas and sakagawea, who now are famous Native Americans. However, the Europeans brought with them many diseases that killed huge parts of the Native American population.
