    Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co
    This court case declared that income tax was unconstitutional. prior to this the government tried to instate an income tax but was removed due to this case. this means ideas like an income tax on the rich, an idea to support the progressive ideal of equity, in attempts for equity where temporarily halted. This led the XVI amendment under 20 years later being instated making it constitutional.

    This amendment made it so that the people of the state elected their senators. previously state legislature elected senators but there was worry of internal corruption in the state senates that lead to this amendment and power directly in the hands of the people, a progressive ideal.

    This act following the XVIII amendment, defined illegal alcohol beverages as alcohol content of 0.5% or greater. it also designated punishments for alcohol related crime and fully enforcing the XVIII amendment. this supported progressive ideals like sobriety.

    XIX, Womens Sufferage
    This amendment made it legal for women to vote and have property. this allowed women to choose how they would like to live their lives and move on from an unfit society for independent women, which wasn´t progressive.
