The first 10 amendments are in the bill of rights.
1. Freedom of speech
2. Right to bear arms
3. No forced housing of soldiers
4. No illegal search or seizure
5. Due process, right to remain silent, etc.
6. Speedy trial
7. Jury trial in all civil cases
8. No cruel punishment
9. All rights not listed are still protected.
10. All powers not given to the national government are reserved for the states. -
The 11th Amendment made it to where you cannot sue a state if you do not live in it. -
The 12th amendment changed how the president and vice president are elected. -
The 13th amendment abolished slavery and forced labor unless it is punishment for a crime -
The 14th amendment established the Due Process clause and defined citizenship. -
The 15th amendment gave the right to vote to all men regardless of his race. -
The 16th amendment gave congress the authority to impose an income tax with it being based on apportionment -
The 17th amendment made it to where senators are directly elected by popular vote. -
The 18th Amendment banned alcohol -
The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. -
The 20th amendment changed the start of the presidential and congressional terms. -
The 21st amendment repealed the prohibiton on alcohol. -
The 22nd amendment created a two term limit for the president. It was inspired by Franklin D Roosevelt. -
The 23rd amendment gave residents of Washington D.C the right to vote in national elections. -
The 24th amendment abolished the taxation on polls for voting. -
The 25th amendment created the procedures for the succession of the president in the event that he dies. -
The 26th amendment lowered the age for voting to 18. -
The 27th amendment limits congressional pay raises until the start of the next term.
