    Treaties of Paris 1763

    The Treaties of Paris was the end of the French and Indian War. This was a war between Great Britain and France over US land. In the end, Great Britain won and a treaty was signed. France lost Canada and gave up Louisiana to Spain. This affected the colonists because Britain needed money to rebuild their army. This is what started a lot of taxing which later led to the colonists getting their freedom from Britain.

    The Stamp act was when Britain raised taxes on stamps. They raised the taxes on stamps in order to raise money for British troops fighting. This angered the thirteen colonies. The colonies responded to this very poorly and after many protest Britain revoked the taxes on stamps.

    Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Act was when Britain put taxes on imported goods. Colonists thought it was unfair that they were getting taxed when they had zero representation in the Parliament. This was a big thing that caused "No Taxation without Representation." Just like before protests started up and colonists would avoid imported products. This once again made colonists annoyed they felt as if it was unfair to be taxed when they had no say in the matter. The Townshend Act was taken back in 1770.

    The Boston Massacre was arguable one of the things that truly turned up the stakes. British soldiers were placed to keep rioters in place. Lots of tension had already been building between colonists and soldiers. The soldiers had dealt with things being thrown at them and verbal harassment. One of the objects knocked one of the soldiers down causing another to shoot into the crowd of colonists. At the end five colonists passed away. Colonists anger deepened towards Britain and their troops.

    The Boston Tea Party was when Colonist dressed up as Indians got onto a ship a dumped 324 chest of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord the British troops marched into Lexington with the plan of destroying weapons. When they arrived they were met with resistance. When they ran to Concord they were met with even more push back. In the end the colonists won. This helped boost morale and show that colonists could defeat troops. This was the battle that started the American Revolution.

    Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill started when British troops attacked Americans. Although British troops won and got the land, they suffered a lot more casualties. This once again boosted colonist morale. This time it proved to them that even when the troops were winning that colonists could do quite some damage.
  • France and US become Allies

    France and US become Allies

    The French were still angry from their loss against Britain so seeing an opportunity to weaken Britain forces decided to help the colonists in their goal to gain freedom. They signed a treaty supplying financial support, troops, and supplies that led to colonist victory.

    The Siege of Yorktown was the last battle in the American Revolution. This battle lasted 22 days and ended in an American victory. The British troops once again faced many losses in this battle. This win led to colonist independence causing them to no longer have to fight.
  • Treaty of Paris of 1783

    Treaty of Paris of 1783

    The Treaty of Paris was signed on the third of September. The colonists were officially free and recognized as their own nation.
