Halifax Explosion
Two ships collided in the Halifax harbour, one of them loaded with explosives for WW1. What followed was one of the largest human-made explosions before the first atomic bombs in 1945. The north end of Halifax was destroyed from the blast of the explosives and the following tsunami. About 11,000 casualties and 25,000 left without shelter.
