THE FUTURE
many things are being thought of like electric armor, lasers, and much much more what I personally think is coming soon is invisibility/transparency. We already have shields that do this via "large precision engineered lens arrays" reflecting light rendering its user invisible. This does leave a small blurry spot tta can be seen if looking close enough but if it is refined and researched it could completely render a full tank invisible.
