Bebop, or modern jazz is a form of jazz that came from the United States created by Charlie Parker. Popular during WWII but soon started dying out. Sooner or later, it was known as "The worst kind of jazz". Many people in the public said "It was too chaotic and impossible to dance to with its fast paced tempos. -

Pop Rock is a genre popular created in the 1950's as a sub genre of alternative rock and roll that consists of both pop music and rock music, but this genre was different from rock. Pop Rock had more appeal, catchy melodies, and less grit. Rock on the other hand had more heavier instruments, more grit, and anger to it. Artists like Abba, The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Bee Gee's, Imagine Dragons, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, etc would be considered as Pop Rock. -
Soul music is a genre that was created by African American communities during the late 1950's and early 1960's. Soul has many varieties of it such as Motown, RB, gospel, urban blues, and smooth jazz. People such as Ray Charles, Clyde McPhatter, Hank Ballard, and Etta James. Ray being the most famous with his hit songs in the late 50's-60's "Hit the Road Jack", "I Got a Woman", and "Georgia on My Mind". -
New Wave is a sub genre from the early 1970s- 1980s that has pop, rock, reggae, funk, and punk combined into it. Artists such as The B-52's, Talking Heads, Duran Duran, A-ha, Oingo Boingo, The Cure, Blondie, Dead or Alive, and Tears for Fears were the most popular New Wave bands to ever exist with their songs such as Rock Lobster, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Psycho Killer, Take on Me, Heart of Glass, You Spin Me Round, Invisible, Dead Man's Party, and Just like Heaven. -

The genre that peaked in the 2000s was the sub genre of metal called "Nu Metal" formally found by the band "Korn" (who still remains popular today!) back in 1994 with their self-titled album and in 1998 with their "Life is Peachy" album. Bands like Slipknot, Deftones, System of a Down, etc is what made Nu Metal so special back then. Different genres were also combined with it like rap. For example, Slipknots 1999 hit song "Spit it Out" includes rap and Limp Bizkit's whole career surrounding it. -
Hip Hop is a sub genre of rap also known as disco rap that was found in the 1970's created by African Americans (Formally by DJ Kool Herc). Although Rap and Hip Hop are basically the same, they're a little different. Hip Hop uses DJing, turntables, scratching, beatboxing, and instrumental tracks. Rap does have those elements but mainly beats, samples, and rapping. Some big Hip Hop artists are Insane Clown Posse, (Metal Fingers) DOOM, Kanye West, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Future, and more. -

Many people from around the world listen to any type of genre of music every single day without one falling out of fame. Although now, people listen to rap or pop music now, every genre is popular now.
