Their workings involved acts of violence and oppression against people of color, and other minorities. The cause of this was the abolishment of slavery. The long term impact of this group would lead to segregation, and the permanent alteration of how the world views people of other races.

Thanks to this, the industrial age brought with it an influx of new inventions and inflation/taxes that would cause both irreversible damage and new advancements that we probably couldn’t imagine a world without today.

This marks the date that they are produced and distributed to American families, and even others outside of the U.S., permanently changing the line of long distance communication for the rest of history.

This collective time period was when the government would open the native American land in Oklahoma up to the settlers, leaving them free to colonize the land. this in turn caused chaos of settlers racing to see who could claim their land first. The long term affects of this quite vary, as on one end the American people were able to expand their territory and settle even further, but to the natives their homes that they had rightfully claimed was ripped away from them.

Ellis island was officially opened to the public (immigrants). They would be physically and mentally examined, and take the citizenship test. Based on the results, they’d be allowed citizenship. This day made such a significant impact on this era because without Ellis island we wouldn’t have all of these records of immigrants and where they came from, which can be quite vital to so many Americans in order to learn about their ancestry and what their nationalities are.

Morgan founded the U.S. steel company, which would become a major superpower in the U.S. this would lead to yet another mass production boom, causing an influx in the growth of towns and cities. In fact, the production of steel significantly increased the construction of cities and skyscrapers, without this steel company they would have grown much slower or possibly not even at all.

Theodore Roosevelt became the 26th president, replacing William McKinley after his assassination. His term in office is so significant because he was originally never meant to be there. The government feared him because of his radicalism, so they made him as vice president where he couldn’t impact much. However once he replaces McKinley by law, he brought forth such immense changes to the U.S. by abolishing monopolies and becoming the renowned “trustbuster” that he is today.

Ida Tarbell is renowned for her detail expo-see on the standard oil company, the first time that someone has single-handedly brought proactive awareness to the abhorrent conditions that the workers are forced to slave away in, as well as the cruel tactics of Rockefeller and the negative impact that their oil production has on the world. Thanks to this first writing, it started the eventual realization of the irreversible damage that the oil industry has on the earth.

Upon establishing this company, Henry ford would single handedly change the line of car manufacturing for good, introducing an absolute landslide of efficiency and thus skyrocketing the sales of vehicles and widely introducing them to the nation, normalizing the use amongst Americans.

Angel island served the same purpose as Ellis island, except it is on the opposite side of the U.S. this allowed for people of many more cultures and nationalities to become Americans, mainly people from within Asia and Russia, whereas Ellis Island mainly brought in Europeans. The opening of Angel Island thus contributed more to the “melting pot” that we know the U.S. as.

On this day, congress passed the 17th amendment to the constitution which would set up the system for electing the senate. Thanks to this amendment, the U.S. government has been able to have a functioning senate branch that isn’t biased to the already existing government and instead allows the people to give input and vote, meaning that the senate most likely is tending to work better for the country than the biased choosing of the government.

The 16th amendment basically enforces fair taxation. The government has the ability to pull taxes from the income of all regardless of the reason, however the rate must stay the same for everyone no matter how big or small the population ratio is. With the addition of this amendment, it brought the previously mentioned fair taxation, meaning that every citizen regardless of location can get more equal wages since folks in highly populated areas aren’t being taxed as much.

The Empire State Building was so significant and created for two reasons: to provide office spaces and more opportunities during the Great Depression, and to win a competition for the world’s tallest building. The Empire State Building served as a symbol of hope during the Great Depression and ultimately put its place in history when it became a huge success in helping the U.S. through that grave time.
