Thomas Kuhn was born to Minette S. Kuhn and Samuel L. Kuhn in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended the Hessian Hills School a liberal school that promoted the independent thinking of its students.

In 1943, Thomas Kuhn graduated from Harvard University with a B.S in Physics. He also obtained an M.S. and a Ph.D. from the Harvard University in 1946 and 1949.

In 1957, his book, The Copernican Revolution refuted the claims of other prominent scientists and stated that the earth was at the center of the Solar System.
