    Thomas Kuhn was born in Cincinatti Ohia on July 18th, 1922 to Samuel L. Kuhn Minette Stroock Kuhn. Thomas was one of two children.

    Education

    Thomas would move around a lot as a child. Even throughout all the moves Thomas's family would make, he was always able to stay in nice private schools. Thomas would find his love for math in grade school. After graduating high school, Thomas would go on to further his education at Harvard University getting both his bachelor's and master’s in physics. After completing both his bachelor's and master’s, Thomas would go on to get his PH. D in the History of Science from Harvard University.

    Work During WWII
    Between his undergrad and master’s, Thomas would apply his knowledge to help contribute to the war effort for the United States. Thomas would join the Harvard Radio Research Laboratory (RRL). While in the RRL Thomas would work on SIGINT as well as ELINT and would travel to Europe to further his work which entailed studying enemy radar capabilities. After Thomas’s tours to Great Britain, France and Germany.

    Teaching Career

    After Kuhn completed his education, he would go on to be a successful professor. Kuhn taught the Philosophy of Science at Harvard University, University of California at Birkley, Princeton University and lastly at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • The Structure of Scientific Revolutions

    The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
    One of Thomas Kuhns most notable works was his book, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. In this book the term Paradigm Shift is coined. Thomas explained how science goes through phases of growth. These phases are the “Normal Science” phase, the “Model Drift” phase, the “Model Crisis” phase, the “Model Revolution” and lastly the Paradigm Change itself.     Thomas Kuhn would succumb to his 2-year battle with cancer and passed away in Cambridge, Massachusetts on June 17th, 1996. Thomas was only 1 month shy of his 74th birthday.
