  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese who were waging war against the Chinese, attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as a preliminary to taking British, French and Dutch colonies in South East Asia. Within 2 hours 18 US warships had been sunk or damaged, 188 aircrafts were destroyed and 2,403 American military men and women had been killed.

  • D-Day

    The allies launched an attack on Germany’s forces in Normandy, Western France. Thousands of transports carried an invasion army under the command of general Eisenhower at the Normandy beaches.

    Lasted until Jan 25, 1945. Germany launched one final attack on the Ardennes region of Belgium in an attempt to push the allies back from German home territory. They were unsuccessful.

    Lasted until June 22, 1945. The battle of Okinawa, also known as Operation Iceberg. It was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific theater of World War II Resulting in the most casualties with over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 casualties for the Allies.
