The war was about the afroamercans or slaves. Northern states wanted to abolish slavery and Southern wanted to keep slavery. Nothern states won the civil war.

Freed slaves were intented to have the same rights as other free men, but in real life that wasn't the case.
The southern states made it difficult for afroamericans to vote. Southern states also allowed for racial segregation in public scools, public transport, public areas and workplace. These laws were known as Jim Crow laws. -

On the possitive side there is more and more Native Americans in politics and working as representitives for Native American people in federal politics
