    Invasion of Poland
    The first action of war occured on the Polish Border. Hitler's troops quickly advanced and easily crushed the opposition using the Blitzkrieg tactic. The other nations started to mobilize and updating their weapons as the Germans were using new technology. Hitler mainly wanted to regain the land that was taken from the nation through the Treaty of Versailles.

    Battle of the Atlantic

    The Battle is the ongoing struggle of Britain to keep her open sea lanes away from German control. The Germans wanted to stop the supplies from reaching Europe by using U-Boats. Many Allied ships started to travel surrounded by warships. Soon the majority of U-Boats were destoryed so the supplies had a safe route to Europe, especially when the United States became involved in the war.

    Winter War

    The USSR's Red Army attacked Finland, though the Finns fought bravely but eventually surrendered and signed a peace treaty. The Red Army only wanted land, and on the international perspective, the alliance between Hitler and Stalin was finally exposed. Also that the USSR is not a force to be undermined.

    Evacuation of Dunkirk

    France and Britian felt trapped by Germany and they were getting tired of the Phony War. So when German troops started to approach, the English Navy and any boat that was still standing was used to evacuate 340,000 troops who lived to fight another day. This was a moral victory for the Allies, and it saved the best of the British troops. By letting the troops go, Hitler made a major mistake.

    Fall of France
    The blitzkreig was too effective for the French troops to defeat when the Germans attacked. Soon after France surrendered to Germany. With the Germans in control, the French forces were de-mobilized, the country was split in two and all major ports were controlled by the German goverment. This achievement proved that the German tactics were successful and made sure that France was unable to defend itself.

    Battle of Britian

    The Battle of Britian was when German Lutwaffes bombed important parts of Britian such as army bases etc. But soon after the Royal Air Force came into the air. A battle over the skies above Britain and the English Channel ensued. As the RAF had better airforce technology, Germany was unable to invade Britain. This showed that Hitler could be stopped amd the stalled invasion set Hitler's plans back.

    Barbarossa
    Hitler sends troops to invade the Soviet Union, therefore breaking their alliance. Hitler believed that the 'inferior' people of the East had to make way for the 'superior' people. Also he wished to control the 'breadbasket of Europe'. While the USSR troops retreated, they burned everything behind them so that the Germans were unable to live off the land. Anything that Hitler wanted, he did not achieve, and the Red Army was devastated.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    Hitler wanted to take the city that beared the hated Stalin's name so he could easily access the Caucasus oil fields beyond city limits. The German troops were forced into defence tactics only to surrender later on. Hitler lost some of his best troops in the battle but most died from the cold. The defeat of Hitler at the Battle of Stalingrad began the road of liberation of Eastern Europe.

    Battle of El Alamein
    The Suez Canal was a strategic strip of water and the Allied and Axis forces wanted it. In the end of the Battle of El Alamein, the Allied forces defeated the Axis forces so the Suez Canal stayed in Allies hands. Hitler was once again denied access to the oil fields of the Middle East. Also the defeat showed that Hitler is only human, he can make mistakes and that he CAN be defeated.

    Italian Campaign

    Stalin wanted an Allied landing in France so we invaded Italy. He believed that the Allies were too slow to start a Second Front war against the Germans. Soon the Allies helped take control of Italy. This was another liberation for Europe. Many of the German troops were taken and were unable to help defend an attack on France.
  • Normany Invasion

    Normany Invasion
    On the beaches on France: Utah; Omaha; Gold; Sword and Juno, the Allied troops started their task to liberate France, the Lowlands and Germany. The Allies were successful and the invasion was a major turning point in the war. Soon after the troops marched into Paris.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    Allied troops are lined up behind German borders. The German troops find a weak spot on the front and advance sixty miles before they are stopped. Soon after the Allies fought back and took over Berlin. An advantage they had that helped end the war after taking Berlin was the free air space above Germany.
