The Berlin Airlift was a movement organized by the French, Americans, and British during the Soviet blockade of West Berlin to supply the city with all the necessary supplies to keep it alive.The Berlin Airlift lasted over a year and proved that the West powers were willing to put loads of time and effort into keeping what was theirs.

The Cuban Missile Crisis was a major event in the Cold War, where the Soviets came to a secret agreement to help out the newly formed government of Cuba if it could place missiles on the island. It was the closest the U.S. and the Soviet Union ever came to starting a nuclear war but ended when both sides agreed to take away weapons from each others border.

The assassination of Egypt's president Sadat was comitted by a group of Islam extremists who were opposed to the Camp David Accords and felt betrayed because they realized that the president wasn't going to try to keep his promise, integrating them into Egyptian society.

The TianAnMen Square Protest was a 7 week long protest against the chinese government led by students ( and many other Beijing locals) who called for goverment accountabilty, and may other rights they had not yet been exposed to, such as freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and control of their own industries. On June 3rd and 4th, the chinese government ordered a crackdown on the unarmed civilians who tried to block military advancement towards 天安门 Square, resulting in hundreds of deaths.

The fall of the Berlin Wall marks a huge shift in the history of the Cold War. Lots of pressure had to be put on the Soviet Union in order for it to stand down when Berliners decided to tear down the wall. It is the first sign of the collapse of the Soviet Union and can be seen as the last major event before peace in West Europe.

A few days before Christmas day, representaives from 11 soviet republics came to the Kazakh to declare that they would no longer be part of the Soviet Union. Russia could no longer fight back, due to the radical reforms Gorbachev had made during his 6 years as the leader. Christmas day was the last day the soviet flag would fly over the Kremlin in Moscow
