The Marist Brothers came to Australia as a response to the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney to help open schools in the poorer city areas of Sydney. -
First school opened
133 young primary boys were enrolled in the St Patrick Marist collage school in The Rocks Australia. The school offered free education and their mission was to educate young boys in the Marist way and to graduate as fine young men with strong minds and gentle hearts. -
SMCC
The Marist Brothers took over SMCC in 1888 running a boys and girls Secondary school as well as a primary school. The students had a Cathedral as well as a Chapter Hall for masses and special occasions. -

the Marist Brothers formed a Province of Australasia which includes Australia, Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia. -
