After Malcolm's father had died when he was at the age of six, seven years later his mom was commited to a mental hospital, thus sending Malcolm to a juvenile home.

Arrested and convicted on burglary charges, and Malcolm was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but he was granted parole after serving seven years.

After being paroled, Malcolm changed his last name from "Little" to "X", showing his change from a name given to a slave. He had done this after meeting Muhammad and learned about Islam.

After Johnson Hinton, a Nation of Islam member, was beaten by two police officers and held at a police station, Malcolm and a groups of Muslims went to the station. First being denied, eventually after a large crowd came, Malcolm was allowed to speak to Hinton. An ambulance then took Hinton to the hospital thanks to Malcolm's assistance.

In 1955, Betty Sanders met Malcolm at one of his lectures and had continued to go to his lectures. Malcolm proposed over a phone and married two days later.

Now going by the name "Malcolm Shabazz" or "Malik el-Shabazz", still being referred to as "Malcolm X" though. His comments on events were now being publically viewed and on 1959, he was on the T.V. show "The Hate That Hate Produced".

After becoming disillussioned with the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad, he left and became a Sunni Islam. His death was then demanded by the Nation of Islam.

After leaving the Nation of Islam, Malcolm purposely traveled to avoid thm. He did interviews and appeared on radio and television while he was traveling.
