    Dewey's ideas were different from others, in this writing Dewey discusses the roles of thought and experiences as sources of knowledge and tests of truth. Reality must be defined in terms of experience, there is no reasonable standard of truth with it ever evolving.

    The essays really portrayed the way thinking and experiences are formed. These studies are somewhat motivated by conviction. His essays explain that thinking/judgement, are the result of questioning or investigation... basically that possession of knowledge implies a judgement, resulting from an inquiry or investigation.

    Dewey published "Logic: Theory of Inquiry" in 1938 and spent over forty years developing. The theory of inquiry or investigation is an account of various types of inquiry and management of the ways that each type of inquiry accomplishes its aims. Dewey believed "the controlled or directed transformation of an indeterminate situation into one that is so determinate in its constituent distinctions and relations as to convert the elements of the original situation into a unified whole."

    Dewey lived a long life and spent many years on his works regarding the Theory of Inquiry, and also many theories in education and how children or others "learn by doing" which is an excellent way to teach. Dewey also had an experimental school which he and his wife helped facilitate. Dewey help many prominent positions during his career and left many wonderful works behind from psychology, philosophy, education, and pragmatic thinking.
