Travel and tourism began in the ancient times with its first journey by going to Egypt and Greece for necessity religion and going for civilization and pleasure utilizing recourses such as ancient roads and which originates in the European grand tour. -

Grand tour was made for educational purposes but only started for young wealthy mean and not women because it then wasn't essential for women at the time but they did later on in the 18-19 century join in. -
The romans were the major proponents of spa bathing they created the spa towns. They built sophisticated bath complexes . The spa towns were created because the romans discovered healing properties in the mineral-rich waters which then become very popular around the world and become a big health treatment for healing. Then it become a tradition of mineral spring for health becoming fashionable. In Britain there are many of bath towns such as Bath in England being the biggest. -
The growth of beach resorts grew rapidly when beach resorts become a huge thing in the 1800s. People would go to beach resorts because they wanted to travel/go on holiday in their own country But the main reason was people found out the sea had good minerals in the water which had many good benefits for the human skin. Many resort came about in the UK such as Butlins, Brighton and Blackpool. -
Traveling by rail way became a huge impact on tourism because fuel was made cheap which then made traveling just as cheap. Excision trains facilitated the mass movement of people to popular destinations. Then came along many big companies coming up with their own rail travel company. But the main reason why people traveled by rail is popular because the luxury the trains can be and the popular places people want to go to. -
Thomas cook was the biggest rail company because they had done the Great exhibition in 1851 taking over 105,00 people aboard to many popular destination sites. There are many modern day rail travel such as the Pendolino ting train by virgin in the UK in 2002 traveling to many places in UK. Then there's the Euro tunnel made by the government travelling to different places in Europe. which was made under ground by Britain's and France government to make traveling to Europe to Britain faster. -
The first package holiday became popular due to the growing popularity of affordable and accessible mass tourism, fueled by advancements in transportation like railways and later, commercial aviation.

Thomas Cook created the first package holiday in 1841 as a way to promote teetotalism the temperance Movement and make travel more accessible. He organized a day trip by train from Leicester to Loughborough for 485 people, with the price of one shilling including the train fare and refreshments, all to attend a temperance rally. -
Thomas cook started package holidays in 1841 offering many services such as pre-arrange transport ,travel packages, accommodation, food and range of different activities which were made very affordable for all people. people were liking how cheap the package holidays were and many people started to go and that's how it become so popular. -

The fall of holiday camps started when other transport came along with better idea.Holiday camps become unpopular due to factors like evolving consumer preferences for different types of holidays, competition from new and alternative activities, a lack of modern amenities or activities, poor management, or failing to attract a new generation of campers. For example, older, basic camps may be overshadowed by the rise of adventure travel, digital entertainment, or more niche vacation experiences.

During world war 2 Thomas cook becomes very popular with package holidays which were very affordable which then made hundreds and thousands of people travel to different country's then made it a 'trend' to go to other countries for business or pleasure instead of staying in their own country. -
Leisure time has increased to longer stay holidays and paid when on holidays and then it was made to have shorter working weeks and more holiday weeks. This had given more people free time in there week. leading to the increased leisure time for a growing middle class, fueled by economic prosperity and labor-saving domestic appliances. -
People were given time off to have holidays which they was still paid by there works. This was increasing number of workers, and the post-war recovery meant more families had the money and time for leisure. This led to the rise of seaside holidays, holiday camps, and other forms of leisure. -

Now everyone gets influenced by the internet to go to different places. Big historical sites are now seen as very popular places and destinations to go and visit. Places are making more money. Now the internet has changed the industry people can book and pay for holidays on the internet and sort there accommodation and activities. -
