At Tom and Myrtle's small apartment, a crazy party unfolds. Nick is uncomfortable but interested in the events. This get intense, and Tom breaks Myrtle's nose when she teases him about daisy

Nick gets an invitation to one of Gatsby's weekend parties, a rare occurrence since most guests don't get invited and just show up. No one knows much about Mr Gatsby. Nick meets Gatsby who turns out to be more hopeful and polite than people make him out to be.

With Jordan's help, Gatsby convinces Nick to reunite him and daisy. Nick has Daisy over at his house for tea. Gatsby appears, very awkward and shy. However, feelings between Gatsby and Daisy reignites almost instantly.

Gatsby gives Daisy a tour of his mansion, hoping it would impress her. Nick notices Gatsby's brings up the past and his long lasting love for Daisy in an attempt to make her forget about Tom.

Things get heated when Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, Jordan, and Nick go to the Plaza Hotel. Gatsby wants Daisy to say she never loved Tom. Daisy admits to loving them both, which upsets Gatsby.

While heading back to the city, Daisy (in Gatsby's car) hits and kills Myrtle, who runs into the road. Gatsby decides to take the blame to protect Daisy, and to make her like him more.

Tom tells George Wilson (Myrtle's husband) that Gatsby killed his wife. Wilson, filled with anger and grief, goes to Gatsby's mansion and shoots Gatsby and himself. They both die right there.

Nick is shocked at everyone's reaction to Gatsby's death. They all seem to not care. Only a few people attend the funeral and Daisy and Tom run away together. Nick leaves New York to return to his old life.
