Jay Gatsby brings his new friend, Nick, for a ride downtown to a speakeasy. Here he is beginning to get a grasp of who Gatsby really is. Nick also attempts to introduce Tom Buchanan to Gatsby, but Gatsby disappears.

Nick finds out that Gatsby has feelings for Daisy. Jordan Baker fills in how they met before the War and that Daisy married Tom.

Gatsby hosts another party where in addition to the normal crowd, Tom and Daisy attend.

Tom gets suspicious of Gatsby's origin, his money, and his intentions. He therefore begins to look around looking for answers.

Jay, Nick, Jordan, Daisy, and Tom go to town to a hotel during a heatwave. Tom finds out that Gatsby loves Daisy.

In the same setting, Tom confronts Gatsby about his feelings for Daisy, and Gatsby wants her to say she never loved Tom, but she can't.

Getting back home from the hotel in the city Daisy and Gatsby take Tom's yellow car and Daisy supposedly drives.

On the way home from the hotel, when apparently Daisy was driving, they crash with Tom's car and a woman is killed. The woman is called Myrtle Wilson that is also Tom's mistress is killed. She continues driving.

On the way home, Tom comes by the place of the accident where he finds out what just happened. He is confronted by Myrthel's husband that believes Tom was the one that drove the yellow car.

After the accident Gatsby waits outside Daisy's house to make sure everything went okay when Tom returned home.

As Gatsby joins waits Nick joins him and confronts him about the accident. He reveals that Daisy was the one driving, but asks him to never tell anyone.

The day after everything that just happened Nick is back at work and Gatsby is waiting for Daisy to call so they can plan them leaving New York together, while Daisy is at home not knowing what to do.

As Gatsby is taking a swim while waiting for his love to call, George Wilson shoots Gatsby prior to shooting himself. As Gatsby dies the phone rings, Gatsby thinks it's Daisy and he dies with some relief, but Nick was the one to call.

Gatsby loses his grace as his life is dedicated and paparazzis are all over him. Though only three people come to his funural, Daisy not one of them.
