The Stock Market crash
The Stock Market crash is also knows as Black Tuesday. People used credit to buy a lot of items (EX: fridges) for their home and never paid back. Many banks went into bankruptcy. Many people were losing their jobs as the economy declined. All of this occurred under President Herbert Hoover. He later accused Mexicans for taking over the jobs to cover his own mistakes from the public. He later ran away with the money he stole from banks. -

Dust Bowl
Many dust storms were formed during the 1930s. Characteristics: drought and high winds. It mainly affected crops. Many faced economic difficulties and many suffered in poverty, especially farming families. -
The Junior Ranger (San Antonio, Tex.)
In this newspaper, the highlight is "APPROVE TAX DIVISION PLAN" During 1931, the government was discussing if they should approve the plan of Tax division, where taxes were increased. FDR election
Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected in 1932. He promised America that he would establish new jobs, support the poor, and reform the economy. A year after he was elected he immediately took action in 1933, creating The New Deal. He was later re-elected 4 times because he was a man who stayed true to his word. -
The New Deal
President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) created the new deal that had the Relief program, recovery program, and Reform program. Relief: programs that assisted people who suffered from the depression. Recovery: programs that helped the economy to go up slowly but surely. Reform: programs that prevents future economic crises and a more stable banking system. -

The Revenue Act of 1935 raised money by taxing the wealthy. The money helped fund the New Deal and some other programs. As a result: more schools were built, more teachers were hired, and more communities were able to access education.
