    Richard Scobee

    Richard Scobee was the commander/pilot of the Challenger Space Shuttle during the tragic mission in 1986. He started his early college days at San Antonio College in the summer of 1960, while serving in the Air Force. Taking classes here at SAC for three years. After completing a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona Scobee joined NASAS astronaut space program in 1978, then later on went to pilot the Challenger Space shuttle when it blew up 73 seconds after takeoff.
