    democretus

    democretus
Democretus asked himself, could matter be broken down into smaller ans smaller parts forever? or was there a point there matter could not be broken down into anything smaller? He developed a theory where matter could not be broken down into anything smaller "atoms". Without this descovery other scientist may not of thought about working on this theory and we may not know as much about the atom as we do now. Democretus was the first person to work on this kind of theory.
  • Issac Newton

    Issac Newton
You would say that Issac newtons contribution to the atomic theory wasnt big in any way, but it turned out to be currect later on. Newton belived that light was made up of many tiny particles, but not many people believed him. Even though not many people belived newton he did get some people interested in matter and what it was made up of. This theory was curtainly not one of Newtons greatest descoveries, but it turned out to be right!
  • John Dolton

    John Dolton
John dolton proposed that there was a point where matter couldn;t be broken down into anything smaller, he called these particles atoms. Dolton was aware of newtons work on atoms and was facinated about what matter was and weather it could be broken down into anything smaller. This descovery changed the way we looked at the world! and how we looked at the unknown atomic theory at the time
  • Micheal faraday

    Micheal faraday
Micheal Faraday conducted an experement that undid the coupling of atoms, He noticed that one of the electrodes had deposits on the end of it. This conclution backed up the theory that atoms are held together by electrical forces. In his youger years he worked on experements with his dad and showed great pertntial. he then grew up to be a highly regarded scientist and one of the greats of his time. This descovery gave us a glimps of how atoms work.
  • G.J Stoney

    G.J Stoney
G.J Stoney introduced Electrons to the fundemental unit of electricity, his suggestion went on to help us understand more things about electricity. We now know how electricity roughly works. Stoney was very smart and graduated at a very early age, He was always interested in science and liked the challenge that in had to offer.
  • Dmitri Mendaleev

    Dmitri Mendaleev
Dmitri Mengaleev invented the periodic table. He put all the elements in a table in order of atomic mass, he also put on each card the name of the element and it phisical and chemical properties. mendeleev was a smart boy and well above everyone else in his year level, he grew up always interested in science and wanted to know more about it. The periodic table made it easier for people to understand elements and there properties.
  • Henri Becquerel

    Henri Becquerel
Henri Becquerel descovered that Beta particles where the same as J.J Thamsons electron theory. This suggested that parts of the Atom may be the same as other parts. Becquerel was known as the father of physics and retured to the field of phyics, after some encouragment from his friends and family. This descovery was a big break through at the time.
  • J.J Thomson

    J.J Thomson
J.J Thomson suggested that atoms where made up of negetive charged electrons and positive charged matter. Thomas gave us a new spear shaped modle of the atom. Thomson was always interested in physics as a child and was very bright, he was under a lot of pressure from his Dad to choose a better career path, but his father died before Thomson made a decition so he went into physics.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Ernest Rutherford conducted an experement, that suggested that atoms had a nucleus that held the protons and newtrons with the electrons orbiting the nucleus. To his suprise this experement showed that matter was mainly made up of empty space. Rutherford wasnt sure weather J.J thomsons theory was right so he wanted to find out weather it was or not. This discovery showed us that atoms have a nucleus and orbiting electrons, which showed us that matter in mainly empty space.
  • Francis William Aston

    Francis William Aston
Francis William Aston descovered the number of osoptose in non redeactive elements, he used his own invention to do this. Thanks to his descovery we know know how many isoptose are in non radeactive elements. Aston won a scholership to go to a well funded collage so he could be tought by come of the most famous scientists. He studied Chemestry and physicts
  • Fredrick Soddy

    Fredrick Soddy
Fredrick Soddy Suggested that some elements where radeoactive becouse they decayed into other elements, creating alpha, beta and gamma radeation. Thanks to this descovery we know know why some elements are radeoactive and some are not. Soddy worked with Rutherford, they had all the equipment they needed and with Rutherfords help they where able to made an inportent scientific descovery.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
Niel Bohr suggested that electrons have an inner and outer orbit, and that the outer orbits can hold more electrons than the inner orbit. He also suggested that when electrons jump from orbit to orbit it admits light. Bohr worked under Rutherford's supervision and went on to expand on Rutherford's theory. this descovery showed us that electrons do not orbit in the same space, it also showed us that the outer orbits determain the atoms properties.
  • Erwin schrodinger

    Erwin schrodinger
Erwin Schrodinger Added the last piece to the electron puzzle. He suggested that that each electron shell could hold subshells, he also stated that the first shell could hold one subshell, and the 2nd shell can hold two subshells. Schrodinger was a social awkwerd child but was very smart, he was always interested in science and his family was in a good position financialy so he went to a very fancy school and challage. Thanks to his descovery we know know everything about electrons.
  • H.G.J Moseley

    H.G.J Moseley
H.G.J Moseleys contribution to the atomic theory was he descovered how to messure the justifications of the evidence based concept of atomic numbers. After his descovery we can now more accuratly messure the atomic numbers. Moseley was born into a family of well acomplished scientists so it was no suprise that he got into science. Most other scientists thought that Mosley would of contributed to science a lot more if he did not die at the age a 27.
  • louis De Broglie

    louis De Broglie
Louis De Broglie suggested that electrons behave like waves in curtain conditions when they orbit the nucleus. This showed us that electrons don't orbit the nucleus like the solar system. Thanks to De Broglie's theory we now no longer say that atoms bevaive like the solar system. De Broglie's older brother was a theoretical physisist and greatly influences De Broglie's carrer. De Broglie Had a degree in History before he became serious about his science.
