  • The Stamp Act of 1765

     The Stamp Act of 1765
    It was passed by the British Parliament. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and they were then required to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. It was important because the people didn't have a say in it. Today in America there's a democratic government and citizens have a say in every law or bill that's proposed.
  • Townshend Tariffs

    Townshend Tariffs
    These tariffs proposed imposts on glass, paper, pasteboard, painters' supplies, and tea. They were imposed as the external taxes that Benjamen Franklin said that would meet less opposition, but they were still opposed. It was important because it was one of the things that set America off with the British. The British were just out of line in the eyes of America.

    Boston MassacreA squad of British soldiers killed people in Boston.The British officer who was in charge of the squad captain Thomas Preston, was arrested for manslaughter, along with eight of his men. It was important because Crispus Attucks was killed in the shooting. Attucks was an African American man who was an American slave or freeman.

    Tea ActIt was passed by Parliament. It wasn't intended to raise revenue in the American colonies & imposd no new taxes. It was important because In Boston the Royal Governor was stubborn & held the ships in the harbors port, where the colonists wouldn't allow them to unload. Cargoes of tea then filled the harbor, and the British ship's crews were stalled in Boston looking struggling to find work and this led to the Boston Tea Party

    The  Battles of Lexington and Concord
    Battles of Lexington and ConcordOn the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to Concord in order to seize an arms cache.Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm to take action and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to take over the Redcoat column. It was important because it started the American revolution. The malitiamen were outnumbered by a large margin.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    Battle of Bunker HillThe British defeated the Americans. It took place in Massachusetts, most of the fighting occurred on nearby Breed’s hill. Even though they lost, the inexperienced colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the enemy. Colonial militiamen built forts overlooking Boston a day in advance after learning that British troops were being sent to occupy the hills.

    D.O.I.In mid-June 1776, there was a five man committee including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.The five men had the task of drafting a formal statement of the intentions of the colonies. It was important because every citizen was guaranteed certain unalienable rights. One of those rights were life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness.

    Battle of TrentonGeorge Washington crossed the Delaware. Washington realized that without a resolute action, the Continental Army was doomed, so he planned a assault on the Hessian garrison at Trenton. Colonel Johann Rall led the men being attacked. Rall had received warnings of colonial movements, but his men were exhausted and unprepared for Washington’s attack. They were apparently drunk from christmas celebrations
  • The battle of Princeton

    The Battle of TrentonGeneral Cornwallis woke to find that his opponent had disappeared. George Washington sent a small force under General Hugh Mercer to destroy a bridge. Mercer’s men encountered Redcoats under Lt. Col. Charles Mawhood and Hugh Mercer were killed in the fight. It was important because it was George Washington's 2nd attack in 9 days. The Americans rallied and broke through Mercer’s lines.
