Life before telephones

1844

Can you imagine life before the telephone? In the past, people sent letters or
telegrams to communicate with other towns. To write a letter, people used a pen and
paper; then, they put the letter in an envelope, and dropped it at the post office.
Telegrams were messages transmitted through an electric device.

First telephone

1876

Alexander Graham Bell was a scientist from Scotland. In 1876,
he accomplished the first telephone call. It wasn’t a long-distance call.
He called a friend in the next room, but that telephone call changed
the history of communication.

First iternacional telephone

1926

The first international phone call
from New York to London was in 1926.

Martin Cooper father of mobile phones

1973

Dr. Martin Cooper was an inventor from the USA. He was the
father of the mobile phone. The mobile phone was 25 centimeters
long, and it weighted more than one kilo. People talked for 30
minutes and then the battery died.

IBM company

1990

The IBM company invented the first touchscreen phone.
People talked on the phone, sent emails and messages. It had
Basic apps like a calendar and calculator.

Nowadays telephones

Now, mobile phones are smaller. They also have more functions.
You can send text messages, listen to music, play computer games
and take photos. You can surf on the net.
