The Elkins Act was passed to prohibit railroad from offering repayment to large shippers. The reason for that is that they wanted to hold the railroads accountable for the practices they do. However, when the railroads eventually gave their refund, both themselves and the one that receives it got punished, resulting in decreased profit for the railroad companies, as well as the companies receiving the product.

The Meat Inspection Act was making it legally mandatory to make the slaughter and packaging, of meat, sanitary. It was also required to go through an accurate inspection of the product, and also that the label was correct with all of the nutrition information. This law was passed June 30th, 1906, and influenced later Acts such as Pure Food and Drug Act, because people got scared of the unsanitary management in the Meat industry.
