    Spelling My Name

    When I was about 5 years old I remember bringing homework home to my mother asking for help on how to spell my name. At the time everyone was calling me Tj so it should have been simple, but to me it was hard. After a long study session my mom finally helped me figure out how to spell my name, Tj. I felt so proud and accomplished and ready to learn more.

    Learning abc's early on in life sparked my interest in reading and writing.
  • Reading kids books

    Reading kids books

    Picture books in grade school always made reading easier for me because It kept me engaged with all of the colorful pictures that went along with the stories
  • Popcorn reading

    In grade school there was an activity called popcorn reading where you were called on and had to read aloud to the class. At first I was nervous but, the more we did it the better everyone got at it and the funner it became.

    Teachers would assign work to make us write our own stories this would encourage me to try my best to create a story with real words not fake ones.
  • 3rd Grade

    3rd Grade

    In third grade there was an annual test that everyone would have to take to determine their reading level. I took the test and was told that I had a middle school reading level. It felt amazing

    Lexile Scores

    All throughout middle school I've always had a high lexile score and was complemented by peers and teachers for it. It kept me motivated to read and try to advance my reading levels.

    In 8th grade Percy Jackson book series were always entertaining and easy to read for me. I could imagine the scenes of certain action dialogues in my mind and easily get lost in the book.
