Ham the chimp was born in July 1957 in French Cameroon, though later trapped by animal trappers Ham was sent to a Rare Bird farm in Miami, Florida, before going to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico when he was trained to later be on the Mercury-Redstone 2 mission.
