The astranauts had to be no taller then 5 feet 11 and between the ages of 25 and 40. All the astronauts had to be militery test pilots. In April 9 1959 Nasa sent seven astronauts and they were known as the Seven.

In 1961 the Sovient Union sent the first human into space. On January 27, 1967 the crew of Apollo 11 gets killed in a fire on launch pad and on April 23, the Sovient Unions cosmonaut's space craft's parachute fails on re-entry. Both space programs halt for a year.

NASA schedules Apollo 11 as the first manned mission to the moon. The astronauts in Apollo 11 were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin.
