    In the 1940s the super computers were invented. They were large computers with a large amount of power, that used vacuum tubs to power it. In comparison to other technology of the time it used a lot of power.

    In the 1960s CompuServe was invented, CompuServe was one of the first forms of internet. Along with this early forms of email were being developed.
  • 1970s

    In the 1970s things had improved, at this point people could communicate using UseNet. UseNet was an online newsletter where people could post and read messages within specific groups, similar to Facebook.
  • 1980s

    In the 1980s home computers became more common. Along with the home computers came IRC’s, internet relay chats in 1988.
  • 1990s

    In 1997 the social media site ‘Six Degrees’ was created. People would upload their profile and make friends, they were connected through a chain of no more than six acquaintances. In 1999 the first blogging sits rose up, like ‘Links.net’ and ‘LiveJournal’
