Polly was born to a gentle, religious family in the village of Slamannan in the Southern uplands of Scotland.Her Father, William Hutchison worked as a coal miner. Her Mother, Helen generosity was known to every one.She grew up looking forward to a life much like that of her parents. She was small and slim with warm brown eyes and an abundance of shining brown hairs. -

Polly meet John Wilson.
Polly went to work for Grossart Drapers in Carluke, where her brother jim lived. Mr.Grossart was a good employer, treating his staff like family , and among his staff there was a slim, handsome young man who worked there as a draper. his name was John Wilson. -
John Wilson Marry Polly Hutchison
John presented polly with "a nice little diamond ring". Their courtship wasn't rushed. They had known each other four years, courting for three of them, before they married. The young couple spent their honeymoon in Dublin. -
George (Polly and John son) is born.

Jack's brother, Alex, ran their parents' once thriving business into the ground. Alex took 200 pounds from his sister, raised 300 pounds by granting a bond on the store's property, and stole 500 pounds from an old family friend. Jack took money out of the greenhouse's business to pay off his brother's debts and stole money outright from his brother-in-law. -

Due to Falling wages, High living costs and the acute housing shortage prompted John Wilson to move to Prince Albert, where he planned to start a tomato-growing business. -
John Wilson arrived to the town of Blaine Lake as a RNWMP officer.

Blaine Lake hears rumors that Jack is a married man.
Jessie's father, John Patterson, asks Jack if this is true and Jack denies it. -
Jack is diagnosed with TB
Jack is diagnosed with tuberculosis by his doctor. In 1917 it was a death sentence as only 10% survived. A person can have the disease for a long time without feeling ill. The only possible cure in 1917 was good food and complete bed rest. Jessie Patterson took main care of Jack during the winter of 1917-18. -
Polly decides to go to Canada
-Polly is very worried about Jack as he has not written and she knows of his illness -Jack has not wrote as he has turned his attention to Jessie -Polly decides to go find Jack to ensure he is okay -Polly's family disapproves of the trip at first -Eventually they give in and chip in for her ticket.....a ticket that will ruin their lives forever -
Polly reach the Halifax Harbour at 11:28 a.m.

Jack drove to Prince Albert to volunteer for an overseas cavalry unit. This is where Polly calls and fortunately gets ahold of Jack. -
Polly finds out about Jessie and Jack's relationship

Jack moves to Saskatoon in charge of a subdivision of Military Police

polly is shot.
Jack gets Polly to come to Saskatoon, and says they have a house waiting for them in Saskatoon. When Polly gets to Saakatoon Jack takes her to Rosthern, becuase he says he must go there on business. As they are driving polly notices the shovel and the shotgun in the back of the car. Jack pulls off of the rode to shoot some geese then he shoots off the top of Polly's head with the Shotgun. This event leads up to the many troubles Jack faces in book two. -
Car found burnt
found stuck over the grade near a slough -John had many explanations and stories as to why it burnt -John traded the car in for a newer one -John revisits the site numerous times -His stories did not add up with the reminance left in the car (geese burnt) -
John marry Jessei.
