John got involved with family issues and decided to leave his pregnant wife and son to go to Canada. John ended up going to Saskatoon Saskatchewan and wrote to Polly all the time. He also sent money to her every time he could.

John Patterson asks John Wilson if he had a wife. John Wilson tells Patterson that he did but she had died.

John got very sick so Jessie Patterson and her mother took him into their home and nursed him back to health throughout the winter of 1917/18.

When John asked Jessie to marry him, John told Jessie that his wife was not dead but she was a woman with no morals and had tricked him into marrying him. John said they're divorice would be final soon. Jessie said yes.

John became in charge of a subdivison of the Military Police.

John takes Polly to Rosthern, becuase he says he must go there on business. As they are driving polly notices the shovel and the shotgun in the back of the car. John pulls off of the rode to shoot some geese. They start walking back to the car. John then puts the car robe over Polly's seat and lets her get in. He then shoots off the top of Polly's head with the Shotgun.

After John kills Polly he rolls his car by the culvert. After he rolls the car it starts on fire and he walks to the nearest farm house. At this house is Isaac and he notices John coming up and also notices the smell of liquor on him. John takes Isaac to the burned car, and the swathing crew meets up with them there. Isaac starts to see the vomit and also wonders why John told him and the crew a different story. Everyone seems to think John is telling some kind of fib.
