    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated

    This event led to the start of WWI and made Germany and Austria-Hungary angry. He was assassinated on June 28, 1914. The man behind the incident was Gavrilo Princip, a 19-year-old man. Gavrilo was from Serbia and he shot Ferdinand. Not only did Gavrilo kill Franz Ferdinand, but he also killed his wife Sophie.

The battles consisted of brutal trench warfare and many bloody battles.

The fact that they were so close to the battle made the sound of the war serve as a reminder of the terrifying things happening 3 miles away. Being this close to the battle made it very dangerous and if the opposing side won a battle they might be wept out.

    This happened by the Marne River in France. This was a desperate attempt made by the Germans to try and achieve a victory over the Allies. This offense was led by General Erich Ludendorff. The Germans hoped to draw allied troops from the Flanders region, where germany thought they had the best chance at victory, but they failed. This led to the Allies turning the tide in the war and putting Germany into a defensive state.
