    A series of laws that the English parliament put on the colonists in the 1600s. It made colonists sell all raw materials to England, even though they could get better prices in Europe.

    Molasses Act

    A tax on colonist's molasses, or anything like sugar/molasses. It also taxed the colonists imported goods.

    Fort Necessity

    In spring of 1754 George Washington sent a militia to fight the French. George Washington soon after set up a fort of his own called Fort Necessity.

    The French and Indian War started in August 1756. The war first started when the two countries wanted the Ohio river valley land. In conclusion France no longer has power in North America.

    In early 1765 Parliament passed a small act that taxed any paper colonists got. The stamp act was a tax on colonists newspapers, wills, playing cards, and documents.

    The Townshend Act was an external tax on imported goods. This taxed glass, lead, paper, tea, and paint.

    On March 5th Bostonians and redcoats had a fight. A group of Bostonians were fired on and 5 died and 3 were wounded.
  • General Gage takes over Boston

    General Gage takes over Boston

    He had order from Parliament to seize weapons and arrest leaders of the Massachusetts militia. He ordered lieutenant colonial Francis Smith to take 700 troops and destroy all artillery and ammunition he can find.

    This was an act on colonists after the Boston tea party. This effected the colonists because it was a series on laws that effected everyday life.

    The quartering act was an act that allowed soldiers to come into the colonists homes with or without permission.

    The Quebec Act went into effect in June of 1774. The Quebec Act was when the government for Canada was created, and extended its territory all the way south of the Ohio river, which caused colonists to become trapped.

    The Administration of Justice was some of the Acts/effects of the Intolerable acts. The Administration of Justice gave British officials charged with a capitol offense be tried in a different colony or England for a fair trial.

    On the night of April 8th Dr Joseph Warren noticed troops marching out of the city. He alerted Paul Revere and they rode into Lexington to alert the people.

    Battles of Lexinton and Concord

    Because of Paul Reveres warning the redcoats were already waiting the 700 men on the morning of April 19th, 1775. No body knows who fired the first shot, but then both sides started fighting.

    The Continental congress learned that Canada was planning to attack New York. Deciding to make the first move they sent troops from ft Ticonderoga to attack Canada.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill

    After Lexington and Concord more colonies joined militias. On June 16th, 1775 the militia set up posts on Bunker and breeds Hill, which were across the harbor from Boston. After seeing the Bostonian's the British attacked the next day.

    This was a petition assured to King George, and it said that colonists wanted peace and asked to protect their rights. The king rejected the petition and prepared for war.

    Benedict Arnold failed to take Quebec

    The Continental Congress learned that the British troops led by Benedict Arnold were planning on attacking Canada. However, they failed because of the harsh winter.
  • Washington takes Boston

    Washington takes Boston

    Washington arrived in Boston shortly after the battle of Bunker Hill. He soon realized the men of Boston lacked disapline. On the night of March 16th Washington and his men set up cannons while the redcoats were asleep. The redcoats woke up the next morning and left by sea.

    Washington hires Hessian soilders

    George Washington hired Hessian soldiers on April 27th, 1776. Hessian soldiers are German soldiers trained and who love to fight.

    On July 4th, 1776 56 delegates signed the DOI. We see these men as founding fathers, but England saw them as traitors and they would be hung for their crimes, The DOI has 4 different parts and there is 15 original copies.
