  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts

    The colonist accepted the Navigation Acts because Laws guarantee them a place to sell raw materials. The population gradually kept growing and the colonists wanted to make and grow their own goods instead of importing from England. These acts would later make colonist start smuggling.
  • Molasses Act

    Molasses Act

    A tax that the great British did on the colonist. Parliament placed a tax on all sugar products. Sugar, Molasses, and Rum. This tax made it so when colonists wanted to buy these products they would have to give a small extra piece of cash to the British, Known as a tax.
  • Fort Necessity

    Fort Necessity

    Virginia sent a militia made up of ordinary citizens to drive out of the French. This militia was led by George Washington. The fort got attacked by French and Native Americans allies. This army won and forced George Washington to surrender. The French later released the soldiers who then returned to Virginia.

    French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War lasted from August of 1756 to February of 1763. British Troops from the war turned into police force. At the end of the war Great Britain was in debt by 16 million dollars.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act

    Lowered the tax on Molasses but raised the tax on sugar. It would encourage colonists to stop smuggling. It stopped importing on Molasses.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act

    In 1765 Parliament passed the Stamp Act. A small tax on all printed materials. This includes Wills, Playing Cards, Newspapers, and documents. This act made all the colonists angry.
  • Declaratory Acts

    Declaratory Acts

    After Colonist repealed the Stamp act, Parliament passed the Declaratory Act. This means Parliament can tax and make decisions for British colonies for any cases they desire.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act

    The Townshend act was a external tax. This means tax on imported goods. The items that received this tax include Glass, lead, paper, tea, paint.
  • Boston massacre

    Boston massacre

    A fight occurred between Bostonian and British soldiers. In the end 5 lay dead and 3 were injured. Some of the people that passed away were Crispus Attucks and a young 11 year old boy named Christopher Seider.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts

    In response to the Boston Tea Party the parliament passed the Coercive Acts also known as the Intolerable Acts. Intolerable means painful and unbearable. A quote that king George the third said was "We must either master them or totally leave them to themselves."

    Colonists forced to house British soldiers. At first the soldiers went to unoccupied buildings then peoples homes. The colonist had to do whatever the soldiers needed/ wanted
  • Administration of Justice

    Administration of Justice

    Administration of Justice is when British officials with a capital offense had to be tried in a colony England owned. Many colonists thought this was unfair treatment because the England colonies would be biased.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act

    Colonists were trapped. The government for Canada was created making the territory stretched all the way to the Ohio River. The Quebec Act was passed after the Coercive act happened.
