  • George Washington

    George Washington
    George Washington was a general in the Colonist army. He had a small farm in Virginia and was married to Martha Washington and had two children, Patsy and Jhon. He led his troops across the Delaware in 1776. He died December 4, 1799.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson
    Thomas Jefferson was the man that wrote the Declaration of Independence. The congress chose him because he was well educated and literate. He died July 4, 1826
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French were moving South from Canada and the English were going West. They met in the middle and fought until Britain had dominated France and signed a treaty saying that they couldn't settle West of the Appalachian mountains.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was what ended the French and Indian war. It was released by King George III and declared that the colonies could not settle past the Appalachian mountains.
  • The Townshend Acts

    They were named after Charles Townshend who was the man to proposed them. They made it so New York couldn't pass any law unless they agreed with the Quartering act, which made the colonist feed and board the British soldiers, and placed taxes on glass, paper, lead, and painters' colors, so most of everything you needed to run a good household.

    It also made it cheaper for the British India tea company to sell the tea to England for them to resell to the colonies, and it taxed everything at the port so it 'wasn't as noticeable that they were taxing the people. Finally, it tightened the punishment and enforcement of persecution of smugglers.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The massacre was greatly influenced by the Patriots such as Paul Revere and Samuel Adams. The redcoats were sent to guard a bank but from the colonists, but not to shoot. There is no knowledge of who actually fired the first shot, but the British ended up killing 5 men.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea party happened when Britain had released the Townshend acts and the colonists had had no say in the taxes ever. This was the final straw for them and so, instead of a simple boycott, they went onto the ship bringing tea to Boston Harbor, and threw the tea overboard. They had orders to only do stuff to the tea, nothing else and Boston Harbor got closed after that.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    These were released in retaliation for the Boston Tea Party where the colonists through the British tea into the sea. The acts consisted of the closing of Boston port, the taking over of Massachusetts by the British government, people that needed to go to trial could not get a fair one in the colonies, they had to go to Britain, and, finally, the colonists were forced to feed and board the British army whenever the Redcoats needed it.
  • The First Continental Congress

    When the Intolerable acts were formed, 12 of the colonies got together to form a solution. There, they came up with an idea for a boycott, but decided to put together a list of grievances against King George III.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    "The shot heard round the world" When the minutemen heard the British were coming, they got ready and went to the place that they kept all of their weapons and ammunition. The British got there and no one knows who did it, but some one from one of the sides shot and there was a battle.

    This was when they started to oversee the war effort of the 13 Colonies and moved us slowly towards independence. On July 2, they adopted the Lee Resolution and, two days later, on July 4, they released The Declaration of Independence.

    It was adopted during the Second Continental Congress as a last attempt to peace with Britain.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine supporting why the colonies needed to split from Great Britain and that we didn't need them. It encouraged people to fight for America in the Revolution and had 49 pages.
  • Delcaration of Independence

    Delcaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written during the second Continental Congress by Thomas Jefferson. It Was released a year later, getting out of t the hold of Great Britain and making our selves free. It consists of: the Preamble, a list of grievances against King George III, and, finally, the actual declaration of independence.
  • General Washington Crosses the Delaware

    It was Christmas eve and General George Washington thought that most of the troops from the others side would be celebrating. He took this opportunity to load all his men, who's hopes were down and who had almost nothing, into flat-bottomed boats. He lead them across the Delaware to the Hessian camp and succeeded in beating them because the Hessians weren't where they were supposed to be.
  • The Articles of Confederation

    The Articles were an agreement between the 13 colonies established at the Second Continental Congress that served as the first Constitution. The purpose was to preserve the independence of the states.
  • France becomes Allies with America

    France joined the Colonists in the war after their loss of land in the Seven Years War. They hated Britain for driving them out, and were eager to join in the fight against them. They sent ammunition and other things to help America, as well as fighting alongside them.
  • Benedict Arnold Betrays America

    There are a lot of theories about why he betrayed America for Britain, but we know for sure that he was greedy and liked to spend money. The British offered him 20,000 euros for the capture of West Point. He was in debt so the reward money would certainly pay it off. Therefore, he obtained command of West Point and betrayed them to Britain.
  • The Siege of Yorktown

    The Siege of Yorktown
    Was the last battle of the Revolution. It was when Britain came to attack America but after fighting long and hard, they surrendered because they were tired of fighting them. It ended on October 19.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This treaty, signed by representatives of Britain, and representatives of America, ended the Revolutionary War. It stated that the separation of the two was generous and that they didn't need to fight about it anymore.
