  • stephen f austin is arrested

    -austin goes to the mexican government to propose the resolutions
    -while he waits, he sends a letter to texas, encouraging them to start making their own government
    -mexican authorities intercept the letter and arrest austin for being a traitor

    -santa anna and his army approach the alamo [with less than 200 texans inside, led by travis and james bowie] and surround it
    -the mexican army attack the alamo for 13 days until the early morning hours of march 6
    -the texans are defeated within 90 minutes, but not before less than 200 texan soldiers were able to kill 1/3 of santa anna's army

    -fannin surrenders at coleto creek, and he and his men are taken back to a mission in goliad
    -santa anna orders all of the men to be executed, rather than held as prisoners of war

    -the texans swarmed santa anna's army and managed to defeat them in 18 minutes
